Moog DFAM (One-Shots & Loops)
(Headphones recommended)
DFAM is a great machine to create kick drums with as it can provide weighty thumps with plenty of low end. However, it can equally produce rich textures courtesy of the device’s tools like FM, pitch+filter env.
as well as its patchbay.
DFAM is a suitable device to create snare drums as it can replicate body snare sounds with its triangle and square oscilators while at the same time have its noise generator replicate the coils of the snare drum.
Season with the filter and its envelope for extra snappiness.
I tried two ways to create hats on the DFAM. The first one was to use noise as the frequency content and use the filter, its envelope and the VCA decay for variation. The second was to incorporate the other oscillators to create more metallic, futuristic sounds. To create variation I played with different volume levels, the FM settings and the filter section.
One of the most powerful tools of the DFAM is its sequencer which packs a lot of functionality even though it is 8 steps long. I worked a lot on the steps’ velocity and pitch as well as their patch points on the patch bay.
I chose to make these loops as variations (1,2,3 etc.) of a main idea (A & B) rather than a collection of loops.

Soma Lyra-4
MAKE SURE TO TURN YOUR VOLUME DOWN
The Lyra can produce quite harsh sounds so please be careful with the volume.
The obvious thing (to me) to try when first meeting a Lyra is to stack the unruly oscillators of the device, set some parameters and let it speak its own mind.
This collection of sounds features short and long effects. Unlike the other categories, each sound in this sample pack has sonic consistency and therefore can be used as a whole or trimmed to taste.
Music Pack 1 (& 2 below) are an assortment of sounds that are created with the same tonal information and similar textures but performed differently. They can used in conjunction to quickly create musical ideas
Music Pack 2 (& 1 above) are an assortment of sounds that are created with the same tonal information and similar textures but performed differently. They can used in conjunction to quickly create musical ideas
This folder of samples is quite experimental but I thought it features some amazing textures and interesting, evolving sounds. They could be chopped up and mangled up to create even more otherworldly results!
